CIRA Gets 3rd Chicago-O'Hare Frequency!

Sure enough, Bloomington-Normal's Central Illinois Regional Airport (CIRA) gets its third daily roundtrip (lost when larger regional jets were deployed in April 2025) restored on February 12, 2026.

Presently, two roundtrips are operated by 65-seat Embraer 170s. A schedule shuffle involving an earlier morning departure and a new late-morning turnaround, the latter on 76-seat Embraer 175 equipment.

The additional frequency will soon increase CIRA's daily departures to between eight and ten, depending on the day of the week. American Eagle will have three to Chicago-O'Hare and two to Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Delta Connection will have three to Atlanta. Allegiant Air will be offering nonstops to Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, Orlando-Sanford, Phoenix-Mesa, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, mostly twice-weekly.

  1. Good news for CIRA! I see their new Phoenix-Mesa service appears seasonal from February through May only. I have to believe this will draw customers from the south and east that may not have come to Peoria but also wonder if that move might have been due to limited parking in Peoria over spring break the last couple of years.

    1. Good point on limiting parking at PIA. The airport authority better make plans for parking expansion (parking deck) soon or growth will stall.
