TZPR Industry Jobs (2), BNSF M-PEIGAL, Union Pacific Grain Extra 3-27-26

List,

I went to Peoria via I-474 this afternoon and encountered two TZPR Industry Jobs heading back to East Peoria. Good thing Ozinga Cement Co. opened its barge-rail dock late last year, or today's train returning from Kickapoo Yard would have had but two cars!

The other, probably "Industry 1," has corn syrup empties from PMP Fermentation Products, alcohol loads and empties (the first with alcohol placards was empty, the others are possibly buffer cars) from BioUrja Renewables LLC and two Komatsu truck chassis loads. The first four cars, all tank cars, appear to be loads, and I assume the Iowa Interstate has recently left them at the North Limit Yard.

CAPTION: Two Tazewell & Peoria RR "Industry Jobs" roll across the Illinois River in quick succession enroute home mid-afternoon Friday, March 27, 2026. TZPR 1351, returning from Kickapoo Yard, has 14 cars for East Peoria. IMRR 43, returning from working the Uptown Subdivision, has 18 cars for East Peoria.

After the two TZPR jobs crossed the river, I intended to wait a Union Pacific coal train to follow, but late-afternoon lighting was bad so I opted for Hilliards. Unfortunately, tree shadows had become to numerous and abandoned my attempt. A good thing, because just went I crossed the tracks at Wesley, I saw two CN motors and a Komatsu load moving out. I quickly realized it was BNSF's M-PEIGAL. The CN motors must have been available at Galesburg. Five empty hi-cube boxcars were unusual, and I'm assuming they were storage cars received from a connecting shortline.

CAPTION: BNSF Railway train M-PEIGAL (Manifest, Peoria IL to Galesburg IL) is about to leave the Tazewell & Peoria Railroad for home rails late-afternoon Friday, March 27, 2026. Later, it rolls by W. Farmington Road a few miles out of town. CN 8856 and IC 1031 have 27 cars.

As I shot video of the BNSF freight, I learned of a southbound Union Pacific grain extra reported at Dunlap, and when I was about to turn left onto Kickapoo Creek Road off Harmon Highway, I saw it. So I turned right and parked, with only seconds to spare! This video was taken before the BNSF train showed up at W. Farmington Road.

CAPTION: A southbound Union Pacific grain extra rolls by Peoria, Illinois late-afternoon Friday, March 27, 2026. UP 2702 and UP 3081 are on the point. UP 5944 was DPU.
