Time for more Transportation Q & A!

Feel free to post your questions in the comments section on any transportation topic. If I don't have an answer, I'll find one.

My planned "PIA - A History: Events of 1999" will have to wait awhile longer. It takes awhile to research and write the text as well as create supporting illustrations (route map, schedule).

The Thanksgiving Holiday may be the best bet.

  1. I've heard there is a new short line called Motive Rail in central Illinois. Where does it operate?
    Thanks, Shawn

    1. Motive Rail, Inc. - dba Illinois Terminal Belt Railroad began lease and operation of Canadian National Railway's 10.7-mile Clinton-Heyworth Spur in October. A pair of GP10s - MRIX 8344 and MRIX 8317 - and an MP1500, MRIX Y1477, are the line's power. Tate & Lyle Grain Co. loads unit trains at its Heyworth elevator. The Wapella elevator may load trains in the future.

  2. Does Nutrien Ag at McCall/Ferris on the KJRY still receive rail service?

    1. Last time I was in that area (2015), the siding was filled with storage cars, so I'm thinking not.
