PIA Gets Tower Funds

Peoria International Airport is getting a new control towercontrol tower.

Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-IL) announced yesterday a $30 million federal grant for the project.

Groundbreaking is expected in July

  1. Much needed, although the exterior design is ‘ fugly ’ . On the other hand, most ATCTs resemble old Prison Guard Towers. Therefore, it can be argued that PIA’s upcoming (new) Control Tower won’t really be much different.

    1. Yeah, the new towers lack the style of the good old days, but I'm sure controllers will like the new facilities.
