KJRY Local, BNSF M-GALPEI/M-PEIGAL, TZPR Industry & Extra Jobs 10-24-25

After work, I usually head to downtown library, but I did not make it on Friday afternoon because there were too many trains.

I just barely caught the Keokuk Junction Railway's local operating an East Peoria turn. I shot it the last place I could - the Tazewell & Peoria Railroad's Illinois River bridge.

CAPTION: The Keokuk Junction Railway's weekly East Peoria turn is shown in both directions on Friday afternoon, October 24, 2025. LTEX 6437, LTEX 3837 and LTEX 3836 have 17 cars for interchange with connections via the Tazewell & Peoria Railroad. LTEX 3836, LTEX 3837 and LTEX 6437 left East Peoria with 14 cars.

Driving the Cedar Street Bridge into Peoria, I saw the Keokuk Junction Railway local entering the Bridge Junction wye at Sanger Street, but also a distant headlight that was clearly a BNSF train. My hopes were fulfilled when I reached Darst Street to find a short M-GALPEI ready to follow the Keokuk Junction Railway across the river.

CAPTION: BNSF Railway's M-GALPEI (Manifest, Galesburg IL to Peoria IL) and counterpart M-PEIGAL (Manifest, Peoria IL to Galesburg IL) are shown Friday afternoon and early-evening, October 24, 2025. BNSF 6275 and BNSF 7592 arrived at M-GALPEI with 15 cars. M-PEIGAL departed with BNSF 7592 and BNSF 6275 and nine cars.

I chose the Keokuk Junction and BNSF trains over a Tazewell & Peoria Railroad switch move at Illinois Street on the south end of Liberty Steel & Wire Co's Wire Mill in Bartonville. I heard the crew of TZPR 1521 asking permission to cross "Peoria Terminal," so I knew what they were up too. I did investigate in time to catch the train pulling four scrap wire loads back toward Kickapoo Yard.

CAPTION: A Tazewell & Peoria Railroad "Industry Job" with TZPR 1521 pulls four scrap wire loads after switching the south end of Liberty Steel & Wire Co's Wire Mill at Illinois Street in Bartonville, Illinois late-afternoon Friday, October 24, 2025. TZPR 1521 is later shown pulling four coiled wire rod loads enroute from Kickapoo Yard to East Peoria.

I managed to capture the Keokuk Junction Railway local leaving East Peoria for its trip back to Mapleton. Then, I crossed the river to see what the BNSF train was doing, but could not find it (given it's length, I know why). I used Wesley Road and then crossed back to Peoria on I-474 in time to catch TZPR 1521 pull four coiled wire rod loads from Kickapoo Yard to East Peoria.

After that, I headed through Bartonville. Ahead of the Keokuk Junction Railway local, a Tazewell & Peoria Railroad extra crew ran TPW 5008 and TZPR 1352 engine lite from East Peoria to Kickapoo Yard, added 14 dry fertilizer cars (likely phosphate as indicated by some CSXT-marked cars). After shooting video of the Industry Job, I heard the extra receive permission from the Union Pacific dispatcher to run Milepost 83 to 87. I made it to Mendenhall Road just in time.

CAPTION: A Tazewell & Peoria Railroad extra pulls 14 phosphate loads along the Union Pacific's Peoria Subdivision late-afternoon Friday, October 24, 2025. TPW 5008 and TZPR 1352 ran engine lite from East Peoria to Kickapoo Yard and then pulled the 14 cars to Mosaic Crop Nutrition LLC.
